In the shrouded depths of the Grimward Forest, a goblin necromancer known only as Vilemire practiced his dark arts. With a heart as black as the charred trees around him, he concocted a sinister plague, a curse upon flesh and life itself, which he named "Manrot."
The vile disease spread like wildfire, an invisible doom that crept into the villages at nightfall. Those afflicted suffered agonies untold; their insides churned with an unnatural fervor until, in a horrifying crescendo, they would begin to vomit forth their very essence, a grotesque cascade that heralded their end - and a new, ghastly beginning.
As the sun rose upon the afflicted lands, it cast light on the grotesque aftermath. The victims were reborn into undeath, their bodies a twisted mockery of their former selves, forced to roam the earth in a never-ending echo of their final, excruciating moments. With hollow eyes and a trail of despair, they were the dread legacy of Vilemire's Manrot.
The plague did not distinguish between peasant or noble; its grip was absolute, its curse eternal. And as the dead walked, the living fled, for to witness such horror was to gaze into the abyss itself, a nightmare spawned from the twisted ambition of a goblin necromancer's quest for dominion over death.
