The Octahedron’s dance grew frenetic, its arms blurring. Althea watched, transfixed, as the entity battled the creeping oblivion. With each sweep of its limbs, it carved barriers of light, holding the Malestrom at bay. It was a sentinel, not a harbinger, and its fight was for them.
As the night waned and dawn threatened the horizon, the Octahedron's form shimmered, weakened by the struggle. Althea, moved by a courage she did not know she possessed, stepped forward, her hand outstretched to the entity. The villagers, seeing her stand with the creature, emerged from hiding, joining their will with its purpose.
Together, they pushed back against the darkness, their unity a beacon that strengthened the Octahedron's resolve. With a final, thunderous clash, the Malestrom dissipated, shrieking into the void from whence it came.
As calm returned, the Octahedron turned to the sea, its form fading with the morning light. Althea, and all of Eldwen, stood in silent gratitude, understanding at last the guardian they had been given.
