Skathrex was a demon of ancient power, with expansive wings that could embrace the peaks and horns that glistened with the light of the tormented souls trapped within.
The cultists, robed in midnight hues, reveled in the demon's dark majesty, believing that Skathrex's dominion would one day spill forth from the mountains to engulf the lands in shadow. They chanted in the demon's eldritch tongue, their voices rising and falling with the mountain winds that howled like the spirits of the damned.
Skathrex, bound by ancient spells to the chasm where the world's sorrows echoed, accepted their worship with a silent, imposing presence. Its eyes, burning with a hellfire's glow, watched from the mountainous divide, promising power and retribution to those who served it well.
Once a year, when the Blood Moon rose high and bathed the peaks in its crimson light, the cult would perform the Rite of the Ascendant Darkness. It was a spectacle of devotion and sacrifice, aiming to strengthen their demon lord, to hasten the day when Skathrex's chains would break, and it would soar upon the world.
But Skathrex was not unchallenged. Whispers of a prophecy spoke among the common folk, of a hero born under the Blood Moon who would ascend the Malevolence Mountains and confront the demon. Until that day, the cult continued its sinister worship, their chants a foreboding lullaby to the demon of the divide, Skathrex, whose time, they believed, would soon come.
